FunguyLab began with a simple frustration: some of the most beautiful science never leaves the lab. We think a curious student or maker deserves to run a real research loop — a bio-art STEAM kit that doesn't water it down.
Research-led, independently built.
Creative tools researcher and Research Assistant at MIT CSAIL. Joint degree in Design Engineering from Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design. Published at SIGGRAPH Asia, UIST, and CHI. Also an educator with 3 years of teaching experience in STEAM and STEM.

We work with carefully selected partners who share our commitment to quality and responsible production.
Marcello is a former researcher at MIT, where he and FunguyLab's founder became close friends — pulling late nights together in the lab, the kind of shared experience that builds real trust. BantuProduksi is a Manufacturing-as-a-Service company headquartered in Germany with production facilities in Indonesia. We have witnessed firsthand Marcello's exceptional craftsmanship, his deep sense of responsibility, and his genuine passion for innovation. They bring the same care and precision we put into designing the kit — and make sure every FunguyLab kit that arrives at your door is built right.
Yewei Jun is a renowned slime-mold and micro-fungi photographer and science communicator with millions of followers, who has spent over a decade photographing and culturing slime molds. She co-created our co-branded Slime Mold Dyeing Kit and supplies the living Physarum cultures behind it. Her work has been used in a UN-award-winning documentary, exhibited at the 2025 Fungi Kingdom International Art Festival in Chile, and featured across major media.
Kids can handle real science when the danger — not the depth — is removed. We remove the danger.
We choose safe, sustainable organisms and compostable materials, and we teach respectful handling of life.
Awe is the best teacher. If it doesn't make you lean in, we haven't finished designing it.
